Bus catches fire near Jadavpur police station, fireman injured

Fire broke out in a bus on Monday afternoon in Jadavpur. The incident took place near Jadavpur police station. Two fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flame.

Police said, there were at least 32 passengers inside the bus while the passers-by witnessed the fire. The local people stopped the bus in the middle of the road.

All the 32 passengers were rescued from the bus. One fire fighter received burn injury during the rescue work. Police informed that it was Howrah to Jadavpur route E1 bus. The bus was going towards Jadavpur 8B stand.

However, the fire brigade could not ascertain the reason of the fire. They suspected that the fire may have been caused due to short circuit.
"We saw the flame on the top of the bus. The bus was stopped and fire brigade was called up," said a local resident.

The flame soon spread all over the vehicle and the bus was almost gutted there.
