Udayan Das, accused in the triple murder case, has been brought back to the city on Monday evening and the police took him to Bankura.
Das has been brought back to the state on transit remand. Bankura police will probe the accused in connection with the murder of his live-in partner Akansha Sharma (28) who went to Bhopal from her native place in Bankura.
Bhopal police recovered the body of Akansha who had been into a live-in relationship with Das since June last year. Her body was kept in a steel trunk buried inside a concrete tomb in the kitchen of her live-in partner's house. Akansha had said to her parents that she had gotten a job in US and was going to work there. Instead, she went to Bhopal and started living with Das in his Saket Nagar residence.
After repeatedly failing to contact their daughter, Akansha's family members lodged a complaint in the local police station in Bankura. Akansha used to send messages to her family till December. Bank manager Shivendra Sharma lodged a complaint with the police on January 5.
Post some investigation, the state police contacted the Bhopal police and the whole incident came to light. Police recovered the skeletal remains of the woman. On Sunday, the Chattisgarh police recovered the skeletal remains of Das' parents who were buried by the accused years ago.
Bankura police have come to know that the accused withdrew around Rs 1.2 lakh from the Akansha's bank account. Police are investigating if the accused killed her after she came to know about the murder of Das' parents or he had some other intention behind killing his live-in partner.
Police also suspect that Das might have started suspecting her of having affair with someone else and this might have led to the murder. During an altercation, Das allegedly strangled her to death. The accused later packed the body in a trunk, which was later cemented with marble.
