New Town Business Club set to introduce innovative features before Puja

The New Town Business Club will come up with a bunch of facilities for the members before this year's Durga Puja.

It will be recalled that state Urban Development minister Firhad Hakim and Information Technology and Electronics minister Bratya Basu inaugurated the first such club at New Town, last June.

"We expect that we could give these facilities by this year's Durga Puja," said Debashis Sen, chairman, West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO)

The basic idea was to catch the attention of city's business and intellectual classes. The infrastructure of the club was built taking in mind of entertainment, cultural and sports activities.

Recently, the club has been connected to Wi-fi network. The Biswa Bangla Sarani in New Town has already been connected to strong Wi-fi network. New Town Business Club has been connected to the same network.

The members can use this network free of cost. But the speed will be reduced after a certain amount of usage of internet data.

New Town Development Authority took the initiatives to set up this club with two swimming pools and a separate pool of children.

A tennis court, a basketball court, a dart room, indoor gymnasium and a snooker room is ready. There is a separate room for children and guests. There is a lounge and banquet hall to hold business seminars and conferences and a restaurant that would be run by Cafe Ekante.

The NKDA decided to commence swimming sessions in the club from April 1.

The authority has already sought for applications. The slots will be given on first-come-first-choice basis. The application will be taken from March. However, the swimmers can go to the restaurant there. A table tennis tournament will soon commence for the members.

The club will organise weekly cultural events for the members every Saturday at around 7.30 pm.

The membership kits are now being sent by courier to the interested persons.
