Zoom Air to start operations on 3 routes from Feb 12

Zoom Air, a private airliner, will commence its operation in three routes, Delhi-Kolkata, Kolkata-Durgapur and Durgapur-Delhi from February 12.
The airliner has got necessary approval from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Friday night. With these moves, the flight operation from Durgapur's Kazi Nazrul Islam (KNI) airport will begin after almost 6 months.
It should be recalled that Air India suddenly shut its operation from KNI Airport, India's first Greenfield airport, citing operational problems.
Confirming their operation from Bengal, the CEO and MD of Zoom Air, Koustav Dhar said that they got the approval on Friday.
They can start the operations from Sunday. But the Minister of Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju, top officials of DGCA will come on February 12 for the inauguration.
"It is India's 10th scheduled airline operator. We'll also start operation from Mumbai and Delhi," said Dhar while talking to the Millennium Post.
The flights will operate from Delhi to Kolkata, Kolkata to Durgapur and Durgapur to Delhi from February 12 every morning. The reverse flights operation in evening – Delhi to Durgapur, Durgapur to Kolkata and Kolkata to Delhi will start from March 4.
"We are also planning to introduce new routes. Kolkata can be connected to Durgapur, Shillong, Aizawl, Jorhat, and newly built airport at Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh. Flights can be operated from these routes on a daily basis," said Dhar.
