College student found hanging inside her residence

Mystery shrouds the death of a college student whose body was found hanging from the ceiling inside her house at Rabindranagar under Behala police station.

Police said that the victim, Moumita Das (19), a student of English Honours was in a relationship for last few months. The victim's relatives have alleged that her boy friend Raj Singhania used to torture her mentally and used to ask her not talk with her friends.

One of the victim's relatives told the police that Singhania used to threaten Moumita by saying that he would enter into an agreement by the virtue of which he could divorce her whenever he wishes to, without the consent of the girl. As a result of this, the victim was under tremendous mental depression. The victim became the friend of Singhania through a social networking site.

It was learnt that the girl never told her family members that she was suffering from mental agony following a psychological pressure by her boyfriend. Police are yet to ascertain the exact reason behind her committing suicide. It was learnt that the family members of the girl initially objected to the affair but later accepted the matter.

The victim's mother on Friday night found that her room was locked from inside. She did not open the door despite repeated knocks. Later, she found that Moumita was hanging from the ceiling. Her family members and local residents broke open the door and took the victim to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead. After being informed, police reached the spot and started an investigation.

The police are interrogating the family members of the victim and her boyfriend in this connection. The investigating officers are also examining the call list of the victim.

Police have started a case of unnatural death. They are yet to ascertain the actual reason of committing suicide. Police have started a detailed probe into the incident.College student found hanging inside her residence
