Subhra Kundu, Manoj Kumar jointly grilled by ED

The suspended assistant director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) Manoj Kumar was interrogated face to face with Subhra Kundu, the estranged wife of Rose Valley group chief, in connection with the alleged connection with the hawala racket. Three senior ED officers interrogated the duo in their office at Salt lake CGO complex.

Subhra was also interrogated by the Kolkata Police on Friday morning.

SHE was grilled by senior officers of Kolkata Police for around two hours in her flat at South City while she was again questioned by ED officers for three hours in the evening.

During the face to face interrogation, the ED officers verified the statements given by Kumar earlier in the morning and on Thursday with that of Subhra.

Sources said Subhra was asked to tell in front of Kumar that how they had come to know each other and why they were found together in the video footages. Subhra was also asked about the allegation of sending money outside the country through hawala channel and recovery of "Madam Rose Valley" folder in the computer of the arrested hawala broker from Mangoe Lane.

Kumar went to the ED's office on Friday morning to seek permission to go to the Kolkata Police's headquarters at Lalbazar as he was being summoned by the city police as well in this connection.

Sources said that instead of allowing him to go to Lalbazar, the top brass of the ED initiated questioning him.

Thus, the Kolkata Police was informed that it would not be possible for Kumar to turn up to Lalbazar on Friday.

Later in the evening, Subhra turned up to the ED's office wearing a burqa. She was grilled for around three hours.

Initially, she was questioned separately and later for around one and a-half-hours she was grilled in front of Kumar.
