Kolkata Police grills Subhra Kundu again, to interrogate Manoj today

The Kolkata Police will interrogate assistant director of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) Manoj Kumar on Friday in connection with his alleged involvement with the estranged wife of Rose Valley group chief to send crores of money out of the country through hawala route.

Vishal Garg, Joint Commissioner of police (Crime), said: "Kumar has been summoned at 11 am on Friday." Kumar has been summoned after the Kolkata Police's officers interrogated Subhra Kundu, wife of Rose Valley group chief Gautam Kundu, on two consecutive days. Subhra was interrogated on Wednesday and again on Thursday by a team of the Kolkata Police comprising senior officers of the detective department who went to her South City flat to grill her. She was grilled for around a couple of hours on Thursday.

Sources said that the police now have enough information after interrogating Subhra and gathered relevant documents during a search in her flat.

Thus, the police have now decided to summon Kumar, who had allegedly introduced Subhra to the chartered accountant firm on Mangoe Lane in Central Kolkata to send Rs 15 crore out of the country through hawala route.

It is learnt that during interrogation of Kumar, the police would verify the statements of Subhra in connection with their "relation" and their dealings with the chartered accountant firm.

Meanwhile, a team of three senior officers of ED from Delhi headed by the investigating agency's additional director Anuj Gogia reached the agency's eastern zone's office at Salt Lake CGO complex.

It is learnt they went through the files related to the Rose Valley Group probe of which Kumar was investigating officer (IO).

They have gone through the documents to find out whether favour was given to anyone or any crucial information was suppressed to guard someone during the probe that had started one and a half years ago.

The ED officers have also sent a letter to the Kolkata Police stating that they were not satisfied with the details of the money trial in connection with the hawala case that was provided by the city police.

They sought further information and the "uncut" video footages in which Kumar and Subhra were featured.

It is learnt that the Kolkata Police have also provided the details to the ED officers.

The officers have also questioned Kumar on Thursday evening. Sources said that the top ED officers have also sought explanation from Kumar about his property that includes two flats.
