Two killed, one injured as bike rams into tree

Two bikers died while another was injured after their motor cycle hit a roadside tree.
According to the preliminary investigation, police suspect that the youth were riding on a motorcycle in an inebriated state at the time of the accident.
Police said that the three youth were riding on a motorcycle without wearing a helmet.
Police said that three friends Ratan Das (32), Palash Das (30) and Dipankar Haldar (30), residents of Laxmipur village of Old Malda went to a spot a little far from the house to celebrate on the occasion of Saraswati Puja.
Police suspect that the victims had consumed liquor. Three victims were returning home late Wednesday night.
When they were crossing Sahapur area in Old Malda, the motor cycle hit a roadside tree during which the victims received severe injuries on several parts of their bodies.
The local people told the police that the bike was going at a top speed when the accident took place.
The local residents heard a loud thud and they rushed to the spot. They found that the three youth were lying by the side of the road with serious injuries
They took the victims to the Malda Medical College and Hospital. Ratan and Palash succumbed to their injuries while Dipankar has been fighting for his life in the hospital.
Police have started an investigation into the incident. They are yet to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Police said that none of the victims were wearing helmets at the time of the accident.
In another incident, around 20 people were injured when a Boga-bound bus from Garia lost its control and overturned near Mahishrekha of Bagnan on National Highway 6.
The local people told the police that bus was hit by a running truck before it overturned.
