40 injured as bus overturns in Howrah

40 persons, including 12 women were injured when a bus overturned at Panchla in Howrah on Tuesday.

The bus was carrying several office goers as well as some children. The incident happened around 9 am when the bus was heading towards Dharmatala.

The bus was running at full speed and the driver was trying to take off his jacket while driving it. He was trying to overtake a lorry while taking off his jacket.

Disaster struck and he could not control the speeding bus, which overturned and caused injuries to numerous people.

However, no casualty has been reported. The locals heard a loud crash and rushed to the spot.They started the rescue operations.

One by one they pulled out the injured persons from the bus and took them to the nearby hospital. Some of the injured were administered First Aid and released from the hospital.

A crane was also brought. Due to the accident, the traffic in that area suffered. There were huge logjams. The passengers blamed the bus driver for the accident and demanded stringent action against him.
