Husband held for critically slashing woman in Raiganj

Police arrested a person on the charge of slashing his wife's neck by knife on Tuesday morning at Raigunj. Ashim Das (40) was taken to the court. The court remanded him to three days police custody.
Police said, Das, a psychological patient used to torture his wife for dowry.
Although they have completed six years of their marriage recently, but Das did not stop his torture on his wife.
His wife, a 35-year-old woman, who is now admitted in a hospital in critical condition, could not lodge complaint with the police to save her from social shame.
On Tuesday morning, a top brass of district police witnessed that the woman was lying on the road. She was writhing in pain as blood oozed out from her neck.
The officer took the woman away from there. She was taken to the hospital. Later, the woman underwent a surgery.
However, the doctors could not say if she was out of danger or not.
"It is really difficult to describe her condition now. We are keeping her under close observation. She is still in danger," said a doctor.
However, taking information from the neighbours, the district police started investigation. The accused was captured soon after the incident. He was booked from his house.
In another case, police recovered the hanging body of a housewife from her residence at Rajarhat's Sulangari, under the jurisdiction of New Town
Police Station on Monday. The family of the woman alleged that she was murdered by her in-laws.
Police detained the husband of the woman, along with her father-in-law and brother-in-law. Tanu Mondal, a 25-year-old woman's body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her bed room.
However, her feet were touching the bed, which aroused suspicion in the investigators' mind.
"We have started an investigation on the basis of the complaint," said a police officer.
