College student molested by local youth for trying to rescue mother

A second year student from Narayanpur village of Baruipur in South 24-Parganas was molested and beaten up by some local youth when she went to the rescue of her mother who was attacked by the accused following a quarrel.

The victim girl was taken to a nearby hospital and later released after primary treatment. The local people said that an altercation broke out between the victim's mother and some local youth over walking a dog.

The youth attacked the woman when she asked them to take the dog away. After hearing her mother scream, the girl went to her rescue. The miscreants allegedly beat up the girl and molested her in public. The accused tried to strip the college student.

It has also been alleged that some local people, who were present at the spot, did not come forward even though they saw the youth harassing the mother and her daughter.

The victim girl narrated the ordeal to the police and said that their house was later attacked by the miscreants. She told the police that the miscreants molested her when she was trying to free her mother from the clutches of the accused.

She also alleged that these youth have been stocking her for quite some time. They often stop her when she goes for private tuition on her

bicycle but she never raised the matter fearing that the accused might take some revenge on her.

The family members of the victims have alleged police inaction as they are yet to arrest the accused youth, who are at large since the incident had taken place. They have lodged a complaint in the local police station on the basis of which the police have started an investigation. They are conducting raids to nab the culprits.
