Unique sculpture garden coming up at Eco Park in March

A unique sculpture garden which is coming up at Eco Park will be inaugurated in March.
The garden will portray through murals and paintings, the history of Bengal from Sri Chaitanya to Satyajit Ray. Besides entertainment, the garden will have tremendous educative value and there is not a single place in the state where the history of Bengal is preserved in this manner.
Senior officials of Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) officials along with Anup Motilal, curator Rabindra Tirtha and a host of artists and sculptors recently visited Eco Park to oversee the final touches that are being given. The garden will be ready by February and will be opened to the public in March.
There will be 12 murals associated with great movements that had taken place in Bengal from Sri Chaitanya's time. There will be a mural on the Battle of Plassey. The contribution of Raja Rammohun Roy and Bankimchandra will be displayed.
There will be murals on the Santal and Indigo revolution.
Swami Vivekananda's call to the youth will also be displayed along with the contribution of Sri Aurobindo, the revolutionary who later became a saint.
The contribution of Netaji Subhas Chandra and INA will be displayed.
It may be mentioned that 2017 marks the 75th anniversary of Netaji's great escape of Mahaniskramon. He left his Elgin Road residence on January 1941.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has urged the Centre to release all classified file regarding Netaji's disappearance. There will be murals on the history of Bengal's cultural evolution from Lalan Fakir to Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Life of Rabindranath Tagore and setting up of Visva Bharati will also be displayed. There will be a mural of Satyajit Roy and his world of films.
Besides the murals, there will be 52 portraits of great personalities coming from different walks of life. There will be portraits of Sri Chaitanya up to Begum Rokeya.
It may be mentioned that besides the sculpture garden, there will be seven wonders and Japanese garden.
There will be models of seven wonders of the world. In the past four years, Eco Park has become a major tourist attraction because of proper planning.
There are zones for entertainment, games and boating. More than 6.5 lakh people have visited the park since its inception four years ago.
