Siliguri boy wins Kolkata Marathon

Siliguri boy Abul Hossain won the Kolkata Marathon on Sunday as amateur runners from north Bengal and Northeast India dominated the first edition of the meet here.
Hossain won the race with a timing of two hours 34 minutes and two seconds to leave Kolkata lad Biswanath Pal second, five minutes behind. Paritosh Roy finished third with a timing of two hours, 52 minutes 48 seconds.
Sachin Tendulkar on Sunday flagged off the inaugural edition of IDBI Federal Life Insurance Kolkata Full Marathon, which witnessed thousands of people running through the streets of Kolkata. The full marathon began at 5 am and half marathon at 6.30 am and about 8,000 people ran in this inaugural edition.
The face of the event, Tendulkar, earlier tweeted with his pictures, 'Kolkata, I'm here at the @KolFullMarathon & the atmosphere is electric! Congratulations for coming together & making the marathon successful.'
On the day, he looked really excited and inspired people to run for better health and living.
