New Town lawyer murder case reconstructed
Kolkata: The Bidhannagar Police have reconstructed the murder scene of Calcutta High Court lawyer Rajat Kumar Dey on Saturday. Sources informed that Rajat's wife, Anindita Pal Dey, narrated and showed the sleuths the manner in which she killed her husband.
According to sources, sleuths were quite sure from the very start about Anindita murdering Rajat. However, due to certain technical issues, the police were not able to come to something conclusive.
On November 24, as the sleuths saw the body of Rajat at Bidhannagar Sub-divisional Hospital, they were unable to conclude the way in which it would have been there before its removal.
Though Anindita admitted the allegation before the police, she denied the charges when she was produced before the court. Later police sought a doctor's opinion about the murder and thus, the scene became clear.
Sources informed that Rajat was strangulated using a charger wire from behind when he was sitting on the bed. Due to the sudden pull, he failed to resist and fell on the floor. The injury marks on Rajat's body substantiate the fact.
The police also made it clear that there was no third person involved in the murder. It is also clear that the whole incident took place all of a sudden without any previous plan. Thus Anindita's statements were different from the earlier ones and she kept changing them continuously.
After Saturday's reconstruction, the investigators are preparing themselves to submit the charge-sheet against Anindita at the earliest.
According to police sources, after completion of Anindita's police custody, the sleuths will oppose her bail petition appeal for her judicial custody.
The cops are also checking if Rajat's brother-in-law had any involvement of suppressing facts despite knowing everything.
