Dr Santanu Sen, state secretary of IMA announced the accommodation facilities for the candidates in the IMA's Twitter handle. It would be extremely beneficial for a section of candidates who are visiting the exam centers in the city from the districts.
"Indian Medical Association Bengal State offers1/2 nights accommodation at IMA Guest House at Kolkata on first come, first served basis at a very special discounted rate to those NEET UG examinees and their family members, who need accommodation at Kolkata on the previous night or on the day of examination (13 September). Interested people are requested to send me SMS on 8240716350 before 6 pm on September 11. IMA wishes the examinees every success" Dr Sen mentioned.
In another development, West Bengal Haj Committee has made free accommodation for the NEET examinees who will come to the city from far off places to sit for the examination scheduled to be held on September 13.
As September 11 and 12 will be total lockdown in the state, the examinees can come and stay at the Haj house on September 10.
A notification issued by the state Haj Committee said arrangements have been made at the Haj Tower at Koikhali on VIP Road and Haj House on Dilkhusa Street at Park Circus.
The notification said many examines from Malda and Murshidabad have failed either to fetch any accommodation in the city or fail to meet the sky high rent. "Moreover, many landlords are not giving rent for two days in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision by the Haj Committee would benefit such students," said Mohammad Noki, executive officer of the state Haj Committee.
