Mystery over nurse's death deepens

Kolkata: The nurse, who was found dead at the hostel of a private hospital at Narayanpur on Friday night, had allegedly refused to go to the market with her roommates sometime before her death.

It was suspected that she had injected some 'unknown drug' into her veins but till Monday the report could not be ascertained.

On Sunday, the doctor, who conducted the autopsy, said traces of an unknown drug were found in her body.

The nurse identified as Saneeshamol (23) used stay with four other nurses in a room of the nurses hostel at Narayanpur in Rajarhat.

One of them is on leave. The warden of the hostel claimed that her three roommates went out around 4 pm on Friday.

They had asked Saneeshamol to go with them but she refused. In the evening, when they returned they saw Saneeshamol was lying on the bed wrapped in a blanket. When they tried to wake her up they found Saneeshamol was not responding.

According to sources, there is no chance of outsiders entering the hostel premises as the hostel campus is guarded and CCTV cameras are installed everywhere. To find clues, sleuths are checking the call details of Saneeshamol. Also, CCTV footage of the hostel are being scrutinised.

Sleuths have also questioning the occupants of the hostel if anybody had seen anything. Her uncle arrived in Kolkata after being informed by the police. He could not think of any reason that could lead to Saneeshamol's death.

Though he did not lodge any complaint yet, police are investigating all possible angles in the case.

Saneeshamol was a resident of Kerala. Officers of Baguiati police station had sent the body for an autopsy.

She had joined the private hospital in June last year. A source said she was looking for a new job but could not find one.
