Mystery deepens over death of MBA student from Gujarat

Kolkata: Mystery deepens over the case of an MBA student's death in a city hotel as pieces of information have come to light.

Sources informed that the student identified as Harsha Bhalani might have committed suicide as the primary report from the autopsy is indicating towards the same.

After the autopsy examination was completed, the concerned surgeon informed that the injury mark on Bhalani's neck is indicating he had cut his throat himself.

Apart from the primary autopsy report, substantial evidence also indicating towards suicide.

According to the sources, Bhalani's throat was slit from left to right. The bloodshed inside the toilet suggested the same.

As Bhalani was a right-handed person these possibilities came up strong before the investigating officers.

The sleuths also came to know that due to some reasons Bhalani was maintaining distance from his social life and was not much active on social media channels.

The sleuths have collected the CCTV footage from the hotel which showed nothing unusual except Bhalani lockeing himself up in the room.

Nobody came to meet him after he checked into the hotel.

But the question arose that why Bhalani had come to Kolkata to commit suicide. The sleuths suspect that his death is connected to Kolkata from some angle. Thus, a detailed investigation has been initiated.

Bhalani's body was found inside the room — 1407 — of a city hotel in Kolkata late on Friday night.

He had checked-in to the hotel on Thursday morning and immediately after entering his room, he hanged the 'do not disturb' board on the door knob.

On Friday night, his family members from Gujrat called on the hotel reception and asked for Bhalani as he was not answering his calls.

Thus, the hotel staff smelled a rat as they also did not see Bhalani after he checked in. Later, his body was found after a staff entered his room using the master key.
