Mukul seeks more time from CID
Kolkata: BJP leader Mukul Roy, who had been summoned by state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to appear at Bhabani Bhavan on Friday in connection with the murder of Trinamool Congress MLA Satyajit Biswas, sent a letter to CID seeking more time as he has gone to Delhi for an urgent meeting. On February 9, 2019, Biswas was shot during the inauguration of a Saraswati Puja pandal at Majdia in Nadia. After completion of the programme, he came down from the dais and sat on a chair in front of the Puja pandal, when some unidentified miscreants fired from point-blank range at his head and fled the spot. Following the murder, an FIR was initiated against several BJP leaders and workers, including Roy and Nadia's BJP district president Jagannath Sarkar. After a few days of the murder, CID had taken over the case. During investigation, Sarkar was grilled multiple times by CID officials.
Meanwhile, Roy had moved High Court seeking anticipatory bail. After several hearings, the High Court had ordered stay on Roy's arrest till May. However, he was ordered by the High Court to cooperate with the investigation.
