Monks, students of Ramakrishna Mission Sikshanmandira take out awareness rally on COVID-19

Kolkata: The monks and students of Ramakrishna Mission Sikshanmandira took out a rally in the morning to spread awareness against Coronavirus.

The monks distributed pamphlets containing the dos and don'ts to spread awareness.

The leaflets have been prepared by the Health and Family Welfare department of the state government. Leaflets were distributed to the people at the Belur Math jetty ghat, Belur Railway station and areas surrounding the educational institutions under Saradapith.

The authorities of Mayer Bari in Bagbazar have decided not to allow devotees on the first-floor prayer hall during the evening prayer. The distribution of prasad to the devotees has been suspended for an indefinite period as part of the precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID 19. Hundreds of devotees come to have afternoon prasad every day at Mayer Bari.

Tarakeshwar Municipality on Tuesday decided to postpone the Gajone mela in April. Lakhs of devotees from all over the country come to attend the mela. The decision was taken at an emergency meeting held by the municipality authorities. The authorities also spoke to the Mahanta of Tarakeshwar temple who also agreed to the proposal.

Along with Tarakeshwar, Gajon mela is held in different areas throughout the state. The Urban development and Municipal Affairs department have asked the civic bodies to take decisions over holding Gajon melas in areas under their jurisdiction.

The distribution of bhog to the devotees at Sarbamangala temple has been suspended for an indefinite period from Wednesday. The decision was taken by the mandir committee on Tuesday.

The timings to offer puja at the Dakshineshwar temple have been revised. The devotees can offer puja from 6.30 am to 11.30 am and 3.30 pm to 7.30 pm daily. They have been asked to maintain a 1-foot distance from their nearest person while standing in the queue to offer puja.

Meanwhile, it was reported that Viswa Bharati in a departure from its tradition will not hold the weekly prayer on Wednesday as a precautionary measure.
