Money stolen from car by hoodwinking driver
Kolkata: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly stealing lakhs of rupees from a car by distracting the driver.
According to police on May 21, around 7:30 pm, a few persons threw engine oil on the bonnet of a car in front of a building on Ballygunge Circular Road.
When driver of the car got down and an altercation ensued with a miscreant, during that time another miscreant took away a bag from inside the car containing money worth Rs 1.8 lakh. After the driver found the bag was missing, he informed his owner and lodged a complaint at the Ballygunge police station. During the probe, driver was interrogated but nothing suspicious was found. While checking the CCTV footage in the area, police identified two suspects.
Following that sources were shown the CCTV camera footages and instructed to gather information. During the past month, investigating officials came to know from their sources that a person identified as Bhola Das is connected with the incident. The source also informed that another case against him was found at the Shakespeare Sarani police station. Based on the information, a police team went to Dr Ambedkar Nagar in New Delhi and nabbed Das.
During search of the place where he was staying, police recovered huge amount of looted cash and gold ornaments. After he was brought to Kolkata and remanded to police custody, he mentioned that a person identified as Vijay Indrapuri in New Delhi was arrested on Tuesday from Bandel.
