MLA murder: CID summons Nadia's BJP district prez
Kolkata: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has summoned Nadia's BJP district president Jagannath Sarkar in connection with the murder of TMC MLA Satyajit Biswas.
The CID has been carrying out an investigation into the murder of Biswas which took place on February 9 while he was attending a Saraswati Puja inauguration ceremony at Majdia area of Nadia district. The TMC district leaders had alleged BJP's involvement behind the murder. Biswas used to represent Krishnaganj constituency in the state Assembly.
Sarkar has been asked to appear before the investigating officers of the CID at Bhawani Bhawan. It may be mentioned here that CID had earlier asked Sarkar to appear at its office but he wanted a week's time. The CID is not ready to give him any more time and has served another notice in this connection. The state government owned investigating agency is trying to know if he had any role behind the murder of Biswas. It may be mentioned that after the completion of the inaugural programme, he disembarked from the dais and sat on a chair in front of the Puja pandal. All of a sudden some unidentified miscreants fired bullets from point-blank range aiming his head and fled the spot. Bullets pierced his head and Biswas fell on the ground, bleeding profusely. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
BJP leader Mukul Roy was among the four booked in connection with the murder. Some of the accused have already been arrested.
