Missing IT employee's body found in Hooghly river

Kolkata: Mystery deepened over the death of the IT employee, who has been missing for the past six days, when his body was found in river Hooghly near Burabazar on Tuesday morning.
Police said the victim, Sankha Nath, went missing on December 6 after leaving his office in New Town. His family members had lodged a complaint with the police after they couldn't find him anywhere.
The police had been searching for him. It was on Tuesday morning when some local people found his body in the river and informed the police.
Police went to the spot and the body was fished out. They contacted New Town police station as the latter had sent a photograph of the victim to almost all police stations.
After receiving the information, some members of the victim's family went to the bank of the river and they confirmed the body to be that of Sankha. The body has been sent for an autopsy.
It may be recalled that Sankha was a resident of Birati in North-24-Parganas. He had left for his office in the evening on December 6 as he had night duty on that day.
Preliminary investigation revealed that he went missing after leaving his office on that day. His family members had searched for him at all places possible, but couldn't find him.
Police are now trying to ascertain whether he died after falling into the river or was dumped after being killed.
