Missing bank employee found murdered in Durgapur, 2 held

Kolkata: A temporary woman employee of a nationalised bank was murdered by the bank manager in Durgapur and the latter with help of his wife attempted to distract the police by shoving the body in a suitcase.
Police arrested both the bank manager, Rajib Kumar, and his wife Manisha.
After preliminary investigation, police said Rajib is the manager of Mejia branch in Bankura of a nationalised bank and he met the victim Shilpa Agarwal in his bank where she used to work as "bank mitra".
Shilpa was a resident of Mejia itself and she was having an affair with Rajib.
It was on Saturday when Shilpa had left home saying that she was going to her aunt's place in Asansol. Although she visited her aunt's house, she left only after spending a few hours.
From Sunday onwards her family members couldn't contact her because her mobile phone was switched off .
Despite searching, her family members couldn't find her out and then approached the police.
Police questioned her aunt in Asansol, who was also unaware of what had happened to Shilpa after she left her home on Saturday evening.
On Thursday morning, police at Benachiti in Durgapur received an anonymous phone call saying that a suitcase was found lying suspiciously outside Rupali Apartment that also houses the rented flat of the bank manager.
Police went to the spot and found a body after opening the suitcase. Further investigation revealed that it was Shilpa's body.
Police later came to know that Shilpa had an affair with Rajib and she had come to his house on Saturday night. The same day Rajib's wife, who is an assistant manager of Phuljhara Branch of a nationalised bank, had left for one of her relatives' house in Ranchi. Shilpa stayed at Rajib's flat that night. However, Rajib claimed that Shilpa was in another room.
It was around midnight when Rajib found her hanging from the ceiling of the other room when he went to tell her something. Apprehending getting arrested, Rajib put Shilpa's body inside a refrigerator.
Rajib normally went to office on Monday and didn't allow anyone to think that he has committed such a grievous crime. His wife also returned within a couple of days.
Then the couple planned to dump the body, without any clothes, in some deserted place after packing it in a suitcase.
But they failed to execute the plan properly and had to dump the suitcase close to the apartment. As a result, police didn't take much time to arrest the couple behind the murder.
Police found injury marks on victim's head and it suggests that she was being murdered. But Rajib is trying to distract police by saying that Shilpa had committed suicide.
Police have also heard about some monetary transaction between Shilpa and Rajib. Some relatives of Shilpa claimed that she had given Rs 1 lakh to Rajib a few months ago to invest it in share market. Since both Rajib and his wife used to draw a good amount as salary, police are ruling out the possibility of any monetary dispute as the reason behind the murder.
