Minor boy held for luring away minor girl for marriage
Kolkata: A minor boy was apprehended for allegedly abducting a minor girl from Bharuch in Gujarat on Sunday. It was found that the boy had lured the girl in order to marry her.
According to police, on July 8, a resident of Deodhar Street in Kolkata lodged a complaint against some unknown persons who had allegedly kidnapped two minor girls, with one being her daughter.
However, her daughter's friend came back home, which created doubt among the police.
During investigation, police sought technical help from the cyber cell and located the girl at Ankleshwar in Gujarat. A few days ago a team from Ballygunge police station went to Gujarat and detained the accused and found that he is also a minor.
Later, it was found that the boy had convinced the girl to marry him and flee from home. The girl was subsequently rescued from Ankleshwar and both of them were brought to Kolkata.
Sources informed that the girl went with the boy willingly but as the law does not allow a girl to marry before she turns 18, the boy was arrested.
It has also been learnt that the other girl who had come back home, had gone with
the duo to Howrah railway station.
The accused boy will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and the girl will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee, after her medical examination.
