Minister urges Purulia officials to pull up socks

Shantiram Mahato, state minister of Paschimanchal Unnayan Affairs department has urged officials of Purulia district administration to pull up their socks and implement various projects they have taken up.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had expressed dissatisfaction over the performance of the district at the administrative review meeting and told the senior officials that she would come to the district only if its performance had improved.
Mahato said that though persondays generated in 2017, is 25.5 lakh and is better than last year when it was 16.91 lakh and average persondays is 23 this year in comparison to 19 last year, Purulia is still lagging behind in comparison of many districts in Bengal.
Alokesh Prasad Roy, district magistrate reviewed the progress of works and urged all the functionaries to improve their performance.
It is for the first time when all stakeholders were present and instructions were given to them in presence of the political representatives.
Purulia-II, Puncha blocks in block category and Agaya Narrah and Chharrah Dumdumi Gram Panchayats had been felicitated for their performance in the first quarter under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme.
The best performing blocks and gram panchayats were awarded. A meeting cum workshop on MGNREGA and MNB with savapati, BDO, Block MGNREGA Cell, Pradhan, Nirman Sahayak, STP, GRS and VLE of the district was held at Rabindra Bhavan, Purulia for the successful implementation of the projects. The programme was organised by the district administration in which, besides Shantiram Mahato, Minister of State, Sandhyarani Tudu, Sabhadhipati, Purulia Zilla
Parishad, Sahakari Sabhadhipati, Karmadhakshya of Sthayee Samity of Purulia Zilla Parishad were present.
