Metro services disrupted after youth attempts to commit suicide

Kolkata: Metro rail services were disrupted on Wednesday morning after a youth attempted suicide at Dum Dum Metro station and the door of a rake did not open at Kabi Nazrul Metro station.

The commuters got panicked after the door of a rake did not open at Kabi Nazrul Metro station in Garia. As soon as the train stopped, the commuters tried to come out but found the door was not opening. They tried to open it from inside and some even tried to break the door.

The commuters alleged that the power went off as a result of which the door did not open. They panicked and started shouting for help. The train services were suspended. The stranded passengers were taken out through the driver's door. It may be recalled that on 27 December, 2018, a fire was noticed under a metro rake. Around 42 people became ill after inhaling smoke.

The stranded passengers thought something major has taken place and that is why the door did not open.
