Metro rly GM carries out thorough inspection
KOLKATA: With a view to ensure safety, security and disruption-free service to the commuters, Metro Railway general manager P C Sharma conducted a thorough inspection at stations, tracks as well as trains on Wednesday.
Riding in the motorman's cabin from Mahanayak Uttam Kumar station to Kavi Subhash station and from Kavi Subhash station to Park Street station, Sharma inspected the condition of tracks and signal points along the entire route.
During the inspection he, along with principal heads of various departments and other senior officers inspected the main entry/exit gates, condition of smart gates, panel rooms, booking counters, signal equipments, water supply facilities, first-aid facilities, automatic ticket vending machines, circulating areas, security arrangements and other passenger amenities at Mahanayak Uttam Kumar and Kavi Subhash stations.
Sharma also inspected the Mahanayak Uttam Kumar station yard, where non-interlocking work has recently been completed.
He also visited the Kavi Subhash (New Garia) station site of the upcoming Kavi Subhash – Biman Bandar Metro project.
He instructed all concerned officials to take necessary steps to further augment different passenger amenities at Metro premises.
