Medical College launches app to locate departments inside hospital complex
Kolkata: The Calcutta Medical College and Hospital has come up with a citizen friendly mobile app, which will help patients and their family members, to locate various departments inside the hospital complex.
The patients and their family members often face difficulties to find various departments and where they are situated. As a result, they often roam here and there taking a lot of time for the patients and their relatives.
The CMCH authorities have therefore decided to introduce app which will help people to identify the location of a particular department. The patients and their relatives have to go to the mobile app once they enter the hospital premises. Then they have to write the name of the destination and the app will automatically direct them to the department they are looking for. If a patient wants to go to the X-ray room, the app will show him/her an arrow which will eventually guide him/her towards the destination.
A senior official of the CMCH said that there are so many departments and buildings inside the hospital as a result the people face inconveniences.
The new mobile help will be immensely beneficial for the patients visiting the hospital particularly for those who have no idea about the location of various departments inside the hospital. The app is being developed. Around 80 per cent works have already been done. If everything goes as per plan, it would be launched on August 15.
The patients and their family members will get all the information related to the health services at the hospital. The CMCH is the first state-run medical college in the state that has come up with the unique idea of launching mobile app which will be an effective medium to disseminate information among the patients including those coming from the districts.
Patients will get the schedule of various Outpatient Departments (OPD) at CMCH through the app. By the virtue of this application, the patients will have prior information about the availability of doctors or the room number of a particular doctor. Once a patient visits the app, he or she will be able to know various health programmes run by the state government and the Centre. The details of the schemes would also be put on display.
The information about the availability of beds at various departments and blood belonging to various groups will also be there on the app. A list of essential drugs and the list of drugs available at the fair Price Medicine Shop will also reflect on the app along with the availability of all diagnostic tests and clinical investigation. There will be information on HDU, CCU or ICU and their availability.
