A section of examinees continued their protest against the recruitment process of primary teachers in different districts. They alleged that they did not apply for para teacher post and had only applied for full time teacher post and appeared in the Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) for primary school teachers.
But their allegation is that the board of primary education tried to appoint them as para teachers, an offer that they refused.
The examinees also alleged that they were told to tick on the form on para-teachers' option. However on Friday, state Education minister Partha Chatterjee said, many students submitted fake B.ED certificates, for which it was really difficult job to recruit fair candidates.
On Friday, the protesting examinees tried to dislodge a police barricade to reach the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) at Burdwan. The examinees alleged that they are not looking at the para-teacher post. The state government has to provide them the appointment letter of full-time primary teachers' posts.
SFI and DYFI supporters fuelled their agitation. The district leaders of SFI and DTFI alleged that the process of recruitment of primary teachers was not fair.
They alleged that appointing somebody through SMS and email was unnatural. The state government did not come out with the panel of successful candidates.
The Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Burdwan (Headquarters) Mufti Shamin Shaukat met the protesters. He assured them of taking the matter to district primary inspector but the protesting examinees refused to go by his request. In North 24 Parganas' Barasat, similar incident of agitation took place on Friday.
In Nadia, some teachers who have already been working as para-teachers protested against the primary teachers' board. The Education minister said, he was informed that some para teachers are regularly participating in the protest rallies skipping the classes. Their salary will be deducted. There is 10 percent reservation for the para teachers in total number of primary teachers' recruitment. The state government may cancel reservation from next year if such protests continue, the minister warned.
