Man stabbed to death at Tyangra, personal rivalry suspected

Kolkata: A man was stabbed to death at Tyangra on Monday morning. It was alleged that six men came there and dragged the victim identified as Tarak Mondal, alias Khatal Tarak, from his house, stabbed him and left the scene.

According to the sources, Mondal was at home situated at Pagladanga in Tyangra on Monday morning.

Around 10:30 am, locals saw six persons came on two bikes and called Mondal by his name. When Mondal replied from inside his house, a few of them went inside and dragged Mondal out and started beating him up.

Though people were seeing him getting beaten up, nobody came to his rescue. After a while, the miscreants dragged him a short distance from there and started stabbing Mondal. Mondal tried to resist but he could not match up to the strength of six persons against him.

According to Mondal's family members, the miscreants are locals. They are identified them as Bhaja, Ani, Chhotu, Milan, Nibas and Tulu. Police was immediately informed.

The sleuths reached the spot, recovered the body and sent it for autopsy.

Police were stunned to see that no one had tried to save Mondal from getting stabbed in broad daylight.

It is suspected that Mondal might have had some personal enmity with the miscreants. His family members alleged that Mondal was attacked before as well but could not gauge the reason behind

the attack.

The sleuths have started a murder case and launched an extensive search operation to nab the six accused.

It is suspected that Mondal might have had some connections with them from before, and later discontinued. Mondal also might have known something about the miscreants that seemed to have to put them in a dangerous position. To suppress the fact, they

killed Mondal.

Sources informed that the sleuths are checking with their records to find out if Mondal holds any previous criminal record.

Apart from that, police are questioning Mondal's family members and friends for new clues.

The sleuths have identified a CCTV camera installed at a factory just opposite the murder spot but the direction of the camera is on the other side. Police are checking for other CCTV cameras that could be installed in the area.
