kolkata: Condemning the violence unleashed during BJP's 'March to Nabanna' programme last Tuesday, Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Kunal Ghosh on Thursday alleged that the person—who is seen setting a police van on fire in a viral video footage—is close to BJP leader and Union minister of state, Ministry of Home Affairs, Nisith Pramanik. Ghosh asked people and his party workers to inform police if any BJP worker was involved in vandalism during the 'March to Nabanna' programme.

He also mentioned that Dilip Ghosh, one of BJP's national vice-presidents, is a more prominent and accepted leader within the party than Suvendu Adhikari and Sukanta Majumdar. On Thursday while addressing the media, Kunal held a picture of the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)—who was injured—and claimed that police could have retaliated, but they maintained cool. He also said that the person who was seen setting a police van on fire in the video footage is close to Pramanik. The accused BJP worker, Prititosh Mondal alias Putu, is a resident of Dinhata.

Regarding the incident, Trinamool Congress tweeted: "Would Nisith Pramanik CARE TO EXPLAIN? This BJP 4 Bengal "karyakarta" was seen torching police vehicles, creating chaos in Kolkata yesterday. The same man is seen posing for photos with MoS (Ministry of Home Affairs, YA & Sports).Amit Shah, where will you shift blame now?"

Kunal also mentioned that internal feud prevailed among BJP leaders Dilip, Adhikari and Majumdar. He said that Majumdar is a 'non political' element and Adhikari has no acceptance in the party. "We oppose the bad words, which are often heard from Dilip. But, he has some acceptance in the party. It is our assumption that Dilip is being given support from Delhi again seeing the behaviour of Adhikari and Majumder,"Kunal added.

He also advised the BJP workers to ask Adhikari why he boarded the prison van without being forced.
