Man rapes woman, records video and threatens to circulate it

A woman was raped and the video footage of the act was recorded on a mobile phone by the rapist in order to blackmail her. The incident took place at Jangra-Hatiara Gram Panchayat-2. After raping her, the rapist warned her of dire consequences if she went to the police.

The woman still gathered up the courage to go to the police but she got a phone call from her tormentor. He threatened to kill her husband and daughter if she dared to lodge a complaint against him. But the threats could not stop the victim and she lodged the complaint with the police. The investigators are looking for the offender who has fled from the locality.

Police said that Sanjay Mitra, the culprit, allegedly raped the victim woman time and again. He threatened her by showing the video footage of the act and said that he will leak the video to the public via WhatsApp and Facebook. He warned the woman that if she went to the police that footage would go viral. The woman still went and lodged a complaint.

Mitra soon called up the victim and threatened to gun down her husband and daughter. Later, the husband of the woman tried to resolve the matter with Mitra. Mitra allegedly pointed a gun at her husband and daughter and threatened to kill them if she did not withdraw the compliant.

The New Town Police Station allegedly denied taking the compliant of the woman. However, the woman lodged the compliant there later. Police started a raid to book the culprit. The investigators learnt that he had fled from his house after coming to know that the police are looking for him. However, the local residents alleged that Mitra has links with anti-socials. He was trying to present himself as one of the strongman in this area. There are many other allegations against Mitra.
