Man held from airport for carrying nine bullets

A middle-aged man was arrested when he had attempted to carry live bullets in a bag inside the Kolkata Airport on Monday night.

Police said the accused Ajay Rubu is a resident of Arunachal Pradesh and he was arrested

while checking in at the airport to catch a flight for Bangkok.

It was Monday night when the security personnel were busy checking luggages of all the passengers who were about to board the flight for Bangkok when they

suddenly found bullets in the bag of the accused while scanning it.

There were nine bullets in the bag and the police are trying to find out that they were meant for which type of pistols.

The police asked him to explain the reason behind carrying the bullets in the bag while checking in to catch an international flight.

The person had failed to give any satisfactory answer. He was subsequently arrested and handed over to the policemen from NSCBI police station.

The police initiated a probe in this connection and are trying to know that why the accused was carrying the bullets.

A police officer said that often gold smugglers get arrested while trying to check in to catch flights.

But it rarely happens when a person gets arrested while trying to pass the security scan with bullets in his or her handbag.
