Man dies after bus knocks him down

Mohammad Zahid who was returning home after performing the last rites of one of his relatives was killed after being knocked over by a private bus.

The incident occurred near Tollygunge burial ground at around 12.30 am on Saturday night.

The local people managed to get hold of the bus driver and he was handed over to the police.

Police took the bus driver

to Charu Market police station and arrested him. The police have also seized the vehicle.

The local residents told the police that the bus was running at top speed when Zahid suddenly came in its way. The bus driver tried to control the bus but he failed.

He was knocked down by the bus and received critical injuries on various parts of his body.

The local residents rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. Police are conducting a probe in this regard.
