Man conceals gold worth Rs 8.60L in attire, gets nabbed by CISF at airport
Kolkata: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel nabbed a person with a gold sheet worth Rs 8.60 lakh at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport in Kolkata on Thursday morning.
According to CISF, on Thursday, around 5:45 am, security check was under way for a flight to Delhi.
During pre-embarkation security check at the Security Hold Area (SHA), while frisking, CISF personnel found some metallic object on the waist of a man, identified as Hapiz Munsi. Munsi is a resident of Hooghly.
He was asked to step aside for further checking.
He was taken to a separate area in SHA for a thorough search. During the search, a gold sheet and a gold jewellery were found concealed in the false pocket at his waist under the trouser.
He was asked to provide documents for the possession of gold but he failed to produce anything to substantiate why he had so much gold with him. The gold sheet and the jewellery was weighed. It was found that total weight of the sheet and the jewellery was 232 gram.
Munsi was interrogated to find out where he was taking the gold but he failed to provide any satisfactory answers.
Munsi was handed over to Income Tax Department officials for further course of action.
The case is being investigated by officials to know from where the gold came from and where it was being sent.
