Police arrested one Srijan Basu on Thursday morning on charges of assaulting on duty policemen as they had booked him on charges of violating traffic norms.
Police said that on Tuesday, the accused went to Salt Lake. He took a u-turn from a cut near City Centre I and it resulted to all trouble.
Two civic volunteers stopped his car as he took the u-turn breaking traffic norms. After stopping the car, the civic volunteers informed it to sub-inspector Biswajit Das, who went to the spot immediately.
It resulted to traffic congestion as the car was parked on the middle of the road. Instead of taking it aside, he went live on Facebook showing that he was being "unnecessarily heckled" by cops.
However, the police continued with the process of booking him on charges of violating traffic norms. He had left the place after sometime.
Again on Wednesday, he went to Karunamoyee and started passing lewd comments at the traffic policemen. He had also assaulted SI Imon Mondal. He also threatened him with dire consequences.
The police had initiated two cases with Bidhannagar East and Bidhannagar North police stations and arrested him on Thursday morning.
The policemen had never thought that a person will return just to abuse them after being booked for violating traffic norms. He had allegedly told the police that they cannot take any action against him.
After his arrest, Basu's friends claimed that he didn't do any mistake as there was no traffic signal or sign board indicating that there was no u-turn at the cut. Moreover, they believe that he didn't do any mistake by posting it on social networking site.
