Mamata hits out at Sushma trolls

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday has strongly condemned the online abuse of Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj.

In a tweet, Banerjee stated: "Strongly condemn the language used on the social media against @sushmaswaraj Ji."

Stating that there must be self-respect, she maintained: "She is a senior politician. We must respect each other and must never indulge in any form of verbal abuse."

It may be recalled that on June 24, the Union Minister of External Affairs had tweeted: "I was out of India from 17th to 23rd June 2018. I do not know what happened in my absence. However, I am honoured with some tweets. I am sharing them with you. So I have liked them." The Union Minister had also conducted a poll on Twitter on Sunday in this connection and 57 percent of the netizens, who had responded, had opposed the online abuse.

The Chief Minister has always raised her voice against any such trolling. There have been several occasions when she had been very vocal against any kind of wrongdoing. Union Home minister Rajnath Singh also called up his Cabinet colleague and condemned the online abuse.
