Mamata goes out on the road for the 2nd day, urges people to stay home

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited different parts of the city for the second consecutive day on Wednesday, urging people to stay at home to check the spread of COVID-19.

She went to the areas including Kidderpore, Ballygunge Phari and Park Circus. She moved around in a car fitted with public addressing system. The state Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Firhad Hakim was accompanying the Chief Minister during her visit to these places.

Banerjee, who is working relentlessly to ensure that people of the state remain safe during the COVID-19 outbreak, is also visiting different places of the city to make people know the importance of staying at home during the lockdown period.

Her car stopped at different locations and Banerjee spoke for more than 10 to 15 minutes at each of these places. She urged people not to come out of their houses unless it is quite essential.

The Chief Minister requested only five people to visit markets at a time to avoid unnecessary gathering.

Stating that people have never come across such a situation, she urged all to

follow the lockdown norms. She also informed people

about the importance of putting on masks and washing hands either with soap or sanitiser.

Her voice reached out to thousands of residents of

these areas. Her visit was

shown live on Facebook as well, where thousands of

people watched the Chief Minister creating awareness on COVID-19.

The videos were also shared by netizens that helped in creating awareness among more number of people.

On Tuesday, she had also gone to various places including Park Circus, Tiljala, Rajabazar and Mathpukur areas. Besides creating awareness, she also distributed masks and gloves among conservancy workers near Mathpukur on Tuesday.

Steps taken by the Chief Minister were lauded by the people from all walks of life as she is the only chief minister in the country who is visiting different places to ensure safety of the people.
