Mamata fires salvo at team saffron, says they 'insult Hinduism'

Krishnanagar: Coming down heavily on BJP, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged people not to get instigated by the party and pull down houses of others.
"Once any trouble breaks out and people get killed, they will go and we will have to face it as we are concerned about the death of people," she said, while addressing a rally here on Tuesday afternoon.
Banerjee maintained that those who do not work, speak about religion and get themselves involved in communal riots. "I support development. Work is worship. I support projects like Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi and Sikshashree."
She said "because we are Hindus, we are tolerant and believe in communal peace and harmony. BJP was formed in 1984 and Hinduism is thousands of years old. Now, BJP is telling us what to do and what not to do. They insult Hinduism."
She urged people to maintain communal peace and harmony. "In the land of Gour (Chaitanya) and Netai (Nityananda Mahaprabhu) you should always maintain communal peace and harmony. Unity is harmony," she said.
She requested clubs to build contact with people in addition to participation in sports. "The clubs should come forward and help the police in community development projects," she pointed out.
Criticising the BJP for allocating only Rs 100 crore for its Beti Bachao Beti Padhao project, she said "the states get only Rs 3 crore under the scheme. On the contrary, we spend Rs 5,000 crore for Kanyashree".
She alleged that most of the 1,200 farmers who have committed suicide are from Maharashtra. "In states where BJP is in power, more and more farmers are committing suicide," she remarked.
She said now the BJP government at Centre is talking about increasing the income of the farmers and health schemes. "Where is money? How can the farmers increase their income?" she wondered.
For any project, the Centre is now asking the state government to pay 40 percent of the project, she said, adding that if the state governments have funds, they will go ahead with the project on their own.
Banerjee said note ban and GST have affected common people badly.
"While note ban had affected the poor people, GST has given a death blow to the small traders who really do not know where to go. On the top of it, BJP's FRID scheme will hit those who have fixed deposits in banks.
"If the banks become financially weak, the Centre will take over the money without consulting the depositors. This is a black act and movements will be launched until it is withdrawn," she said.
