Mamata calls BJP 'destructive virus carrier' for spreading canards
Kolkata: In a scathing attack on BJP terming them as "negative and destructive virus carrier" for spreading canards without standing by the people at this critical juncture, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday that such purposeful political moves are unexpected when the state government is working round-the-clock, fighting against COVID-19.
Banerjee said: "We have formed red, orange and green zones to fight against the disease in a proper manner. But they have formed four zones A, B, C and D to hamper the efforts of the state government."
Starting with what D actually means, the Chief Minister said: "D stands for destruction as they want to destroy all our positive moves. C means confrontation. They always want a confrontation to distract people. B stands for block as they want to block us and our officers from carrying out our works while A stands for avoid. They don't do any work for the people. So they also make others avoid what development is taking place in the state."
Threatening to bring out all secrets of BJP, Banerjee asked she has all audio recordings which prove that purposeful moves were made to jeopardise steps of the state government in giving foodgrains to people through ration shops.
She added that Bengal doesn't interfere or criticise any other state even if it is run by BJP, as it is not the time for politics and condemned those who are doing so with Bengal.
Taking a dig at BJP leaders stating that they have no other work apart from spreading canards, Banerjee gave a call urging them to get down on the road and join conservancy workers in cleaning work if they have guts.
"I had joined conservancy workers and nothing is wrong in it. Where are those who remained busy with tall talks on Swachch Bharat? Let them come and join the conservancy workers," she added.
Banerjee maintained that Bengal is the best performing state in the fight against COVID-19, while there can be a small mistake when the people in the frontline including doctors and nurses are working day and night. "But it does not mean that one will start doing politics on such issues, using social media as a tool to distract people," she said, adding that there are provisions to arrest such people, but she doesn't take such steps considering that they themselves "will fall into their own trap."
Banerjee said that she along with the state government officials continue working long hours to ensure safety of the people and everyone feels bad at the end of the day listening about circulation of such fake news.
She also urged a section of media not to report stories listening to one-sided statements and without verifying the same with concerned authorities.
