Mahapatra to meet officials of flood-prone districts

Kolkata: The state Irrigation minister Saumen Mahapatra is set to hold a high level meeting with officials of four flood-prone districts adjacent to Kolkata. Officials of three civic bodies that look after the civic amenities in and around Kolkata, will also be present in the meeting.

Officials from Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24-Parganas districts will be attending the meeting and at the same time, senior officials of KMC, Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation and Howrah Municipal Corporation

have also been urged to be

present in the meeting, where there will be discussions to ascertain if any further step needs to be taken up to check flood-like situation in any of the districts.

The officials from the districts as well as from the civic bodies will be asked to discuss if there is any work that needs to be carried out to avoid waterlogging.

Mahapatra said: "The meeting with officials of the districts adjacent to Kolkata will be held on Wednesday. There will be another meeting with officials from other flood-prone districts in South Bengal."

He further said that round-the-clock control room is functioning in the state Irrigation department and another control room is working in full swing in North Bengal.
