Locals block rail track in Gushkara

The daily passengers of Gushkara railway Station of Burdwan blocked the rail on Wednesday morning around 7 am.

The blockade lasted till 9:50 am. "Trains do not come at this time. This has become a serious problem for us. The rail authority is negligent about our problem," a daily passenger said.

Meanwhile, a few agitated passengers damaged the counter demanding their money back which they paid to buy their rail tickets. The protesters withdrew the blockade after getting assurances from the authority that their problem would be solved.

"Trains usually reach late at this station. It has become a long-standing problem. We cannot even reach to our destinations on time. Many students, office-goers and patients are suffering on a daily basis," said a youth. Viswabharati Fast Passenger and Ganadevta Express were stuck on the tracks for a pretty long time due to the blockade. Some passengers of the local trains ran riot at the station all of a sudden and started to damage the ticket counter, demanding full refund of their ticket payments.

The roads alongside Guskara rail station were congested with vehicular traffic.
