Language bias: Protest for inclusion of Bengali in JEE
Balurghat: Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) staged a demonstration and organised a protest rally here on Thursday against the Centre over 'language bias' and demanded inclusion of Bengali be included as a language to carry out JEE main examination.
Hundreds of TMCP supporters from all blocks of South Dinajpur, carried placards and posters and hit the streets and shouted slogans against BJP-led Central government demanding that Bengali be included as a language to carry out the JEE main examination.
In a scathing attack against the saffron brigade against the alleged bias against regional languages in conducting JEE main examination, TMCP's Balurghat town president Mahesh Parikh said: "We are being forced to hit the street to protest against the bias decision of the centre over language bias. We have demanded to include Bengali in JEE main examinations. We have appealed the Congress' students' union Chhatra Parishad to join the protest rally. The CP supporters in huge numbers took part in the demonstration." The demonstrators were up in arms against the Centre over inclusion of only Gujarati language in the examination.
"Centre's decision of including only Gujarati language in JEE main examination is biased. It is our demand to include other regional languages in the list as well. We will be forced to organise mass-movement in future if our demand is unattended," Parikh said.
According to him, the states were not consulted on the decision.
The state Chief Minister and party supremo Mamata Banerjee recently called for a state-wide protest demanding inclusion of Bengali to carry out JEE main examination.
