Labour dept to distribute laptops, iPads

In a unique initiative the state Labour department has started distributing laptops and iPads among its employees for better co-ordination within the department.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting held by the minister of the department with senior officials. It was learnt that the employees of the department will visit various factories and units situated across the state with these electronic gadgets. During their inspections, the employees of the department are supposed to collect information about the workers engaged in unorganised sector and will take a note on these gadgets. The department will thus create a data bank of the employees working in various factories.

The purpose of the new initiative is to ensure that the workers can avail various facilities initiated by the state government. Once a comprehensive data is prepared, the department will have a bank and it will help the department to provide various benefits to the workers in various sectors.
