Kolkata Police starts distributing masks to cops, people coming to police stns

Kolkata: Kolkata Police has started distributing masks to police personnel as well as to the people coming to police stations.

According to sources, after the state government's advice to take precautionary measures in order to prevent COVID-19, Commissioner of Police (CP), Kolkata, Anuj Sharma has instructed the senior officials to distribute masks among police personnel.

After being instructed, all divisional Deputy Commissioners (DC) have been asked to procure masks locally and distribute them among the police personnel.

As per order, the masks were handed over to police personnel in Eastern Suburban Division (ESD) and

East Division (ED), along with a few other divisions on Monday.

"Police personnel have been asked to use masks. We are also trying to provide masks to the policemen as much as possible. Divisional DCs have been asked to arrange masks locally," said a senior Kolkata Police official.

On Monday, masks were distributed among the police personnel and visitors in the Narkeldanga and Tangra police stations under ESD. "Apart from distributing masks among the police personnel, a few masks have been distributed among the people coming to the hospitals in the area as well," said DC, ESD, Ajay Prasad.
