Kolkata Police hold coordination meeting with Kali Puja organisers
Kolkata: The Kolkata Police held a coordination meeting with Kali Puja organisers at Kala Mandir on Wednesday. The police urged the Kali Puja Committee members to ensure that the order of the Supreme Court in regard to bursting of firecrackers is strictly followed.
Commissioner of Police, Rajeev Kumar, said: "Every year, you all extend support and we work as a team. We expect the same this year so that no untoward incidents take place during Kali Puja and Diwali. Moreover, there should be necessary arrangements like involvement
of volunteers so that pandal-hoppers do not face any problem."
He also urged the committees so that the order of the Supreme Court is followed. Supratim Sarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police (III) and Joint Commissioner of Police (Headquarters), said: "As per the order of the Supreme Court, bursting of firecrackers is allowed only for two hours — from 8 pm to 10 pm. But with a slight modification to the same, the two-hour time period when bursting of firecrackers will be allowed can be finalised by respective states."
It may be mentioned that like previous years, the process to give permission to organise the Puja is going on through single-window system and it can also be done online.
