Also, some boats with life jackets and divers will be stationed near each ghat to respond quickly in case of an emergency. The Disaster Management Group (DMG) will also be there with necessary equipment to respond in case of an emergency.
Apart from the arrangement, constant announcement will be made by the officers in the boats to make people aware of how much area is safe to take bath as a precautionary measure. "This will help us avoid any unpleasant incident," said a senior official from the police.
Beside the arrangement and precautionary measures, police have also arranged spaces for car parking. As a large number people travel in their own cars to reach the ghats, it is expected to have a good number of cars in the area. To avoid any congestion, Kolkata Police has also earmarked some places to park cars. Concerned traffic guards in the area have also been instructed to take necessary steps to ease congestion.
They have been directed to ensure smooth movement of the people who will be coming to the ghats for tarpan. Vehicular movement in the area might get restricted due to this, if needed. Also, a Quick Response Team (QRT) will be stationed in the area for security reasons.
