The Kolkata Leather Complex (KLC) police station in the outskirts of the South-eastern part of the city will be brought under the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Police.

KLC Police Station in South 24 Parganas is at present under the West Bengal Police. If one takes Basanti Highway from Eastern Metropolitan Bypass and heads toward South 24 Parganas, the first police station after leaving the jurisdiction of the Kolkata Police is KLC police station.

The jurisdiction under the KLC police station is considered to be an important area as there are leather complex and office of an IT major.

There are plots where offices and other establishment would come up.

Accidents are quite common on the "narrow" Basanti Expressway. Thus, road signs have been put up on both sides of the roads directing drivers what to do while driving on that road.
