The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had summoned Mayor Sovan Chatterjee without mentioning the exact reason behind it.
The investigating agency had asked him to turn up at its office at CGO Complex at Salt Lake on Monday.
Chatterjee didn't turn up at the ED's office on Monday. His counsel went to the office of the Central investigating agency that is looking into the money trail of the Narada case and informed the inability of the Mayor in visiting its office.
Sources said that the matter of not mentioning the reason behind summoning him has also been told to the ED officers. Chatterjee on Monday said in this connection: "I am following my path and I know what to do."
Earlier on Thursday he had said: "I have received the letter from ED today (Thursday) and could not follow its content. I will take appropriate action."
He had added that he knew that they would ask him to appear before them and it "would not affect the functioning of KMC."
Sources said that the ED has issued a fresh notice summoning the Mayor on Monday evening. It is learnt that in this notice, he has been urged to turn up at the office of the ED on July 25.
