Woman, son found dead; husband held

Mystery shrouds the death of a mother and her four-year-old son who were declared brought dead after being taken to the hospital. The incident occurred in Kestopur under Baguiati police station late Saturday night.
The incident triggered tension among the local residents. Police has held Sonu Reddy, the woman's husband for interrogation. The cops further said that Sonu came out of his house with his wife in his arms and shouted for help. The local residents rushed to the spot and found that the husband was carrying his wife in his arms. Some of the locals went inside the house and found their four-year-old son lying unconscious on the bed.
The local people arranged a car and took both of them to a nearby private hospital where Bijoy Laxmi Reddy and her son Gourav were declared brought dead.
Police are yet to ascertain if the woman committed suicide after killing her son or if there was any foul play behind the incident.
According to preliminary investigation, police suspect that the victims might have consumed poison. Police are yet to confirm the actual cause of their death.
Police said that Sonu, originally a resident of Andhra Pradesh, had been living at Rabindra Pally area of Kestopur for the past two years. In the interrogation, Sonu told the police that when he returned home on Saturday night, he found his wife and son unconscious on the bed.
The local residents told the police that they did not hear sounds of any quarrel between the husband and wife over any issue. They were also absolutely clueless about the reason of their deaths. One of the victim's neighbour told the police that he came out of his house after hearing the screams of the husband who was looking for a vehicle to take the deceased to the hospital.
Police are, however, not ruling out the possibility of murder. They were awaiting the post-mortem report which could throw some light into the deaths. A detailed probe in this regard has already been initiated.
